DIMES Department – University of Calabria
The DIMES (Department of Computer Engineering, Modeling, Electronics, and System Engineering) was established in 2013 by aggregating most of the staff belonging to the DEIS department and the Modeling for Engineering department. The department includes 78 professors and researchers, and 26 technical-administrative staff members.
The DIMES promotes and coordinates research and teaching activities in the fields of computer engineering, modeling in the areas of structural mechanics and innovative chemical processes, electronics, electromagnetic fields, telecommunications, automation, operational research, and optimization. In these sectors, the work carried out is very broad and articulated, as evidenced by the rich educational offering and the extensive and qualified production of scientific publications and applied research projects. The department is also home to the PhD course in Information and Communication Technologies.
SPEME Lab at work
The SPEME (Smart, PErvasive and Mobile systems Engineering) Lab has a global “mission” the development of innovative methods and systems for engineering

trustworthy, distributed, intelligent, pervasive, mobile, multimedia and multi-sensorial systems. The SPEME Lab is therefore open to networks of public and private actors, involved in the ICT sector and its correlated multiple application domains, with specific focus on the scientific and technological context of the Internet of Things and Smart Systems of Systems, such as Smart Home, Smart Health, Smart Transportation and Smart City, in their respective expertise areas.
